Tastes and flavors on the lake
Lake Maggiore offers a rich food and wine tradition to all amateurs’ taste with numerous typical products.
The culinary tradition of Verbano always emphasizes its fish that freely flock to the nets of fishermen: such as perch, fish symbol of the lake, served in exquisite fillets or made the protagonist of magnificent risotto, and bleaks, fried or in “carpione”, but also the rarest pike and the sublime lake trout, carp, whitefish, char and the whitefish in “carpione”, served cold as required by the ancient recipe.
Among the typical products of Lake Maggiore you can find our local products with cold cuts and fresh goats cheese from Valcuvia as well as the Formaggella from Luino.
The wines, such as “Ronchi Varesini”, also play a leading role.
The greedy can try the delicious honey from Varese, the “Brutti e Buoni” from Gavirate and the “Dolce Varese”.
Do not forget the typical grappas, such as that of Angera, famous since 1847 with the Grappa “Rossi d’Angera”
